The remains of a folly I assume. ( It could be a gatehouse except that it is about a mile and a half from the gate). It's at Barons Hill Anglesey Wales

I love these old forgotten places, and wonder what it must have been like when it was new..? It looks as though the trees have taken over now. Very good natural image.

simply beautiful and magically 'forgotten'. the vines add a stunning texture and natural element and i am enjoying the vibrant green hues too. i don't know what a folly is i am afraid... could you please enlighten me?

@dj.tigersprout: Hi dj. A folly is a building or an architectural feature that has no particular practical use. It is just there to enhance the landscape. Owners of large country houses in the UK went in for them in a big way. They could take many forms, Greek temples, artificial caves, rustic houses, towers to create viewpoints, to give some examples. Some owners even went as far as creating a cave and employing someone to live in it as a resident hermit to create an 'authentic' experience for their guests.

It's a wonderful place to take hundred of photos. Nice angle, maybe too much ligh from the left, but I like the image.

@Paco Díaz: I did consider fiddling with it and darkening that area on the right as I agree it would have made for a better picture. However that's how it was, the beam of light from the open strip above the track illuminating a gloomy and overgrown ruin. So I left it. Its a less good picture than it would have been but more true to life.

I love the way the forest is slowly taking over.Great shot.
