A couple of days after we arrived in Comares the fiesta for the local Saint took place. St Hilario of Poitiers is he, for what reason I am unsure as he has no known connection to the village. Fireworks begin first thing in the morning together with bands touring the streets. Then the Saint is carried out of the church for a jaunt down to the main square, where he hangs about for a bit, before going back to the church. In the square there is free beer and paella together with music and dancing. The picture shows St Hilario returning to church. In front at the top leading are the Benamargosa (the nearest town down the mountain) Brass Band. In the lower picture are a Panda band together with their dancers. More on them manana.
