Levada dos 25 Fontes

Just very occasionally levadas have to make a radical adjustment due to the terrain. This is an example. One that made me wish I had brought my gortex boots from the UK instead of a lightweight pair of walking shoes. This is in the Rabacal valley pictured yesterday where there are three levadas. The bottom one goes through an even longer tunnel than the one we walked through. The top one provides the water for the hydro electric pipe (I think) and goes through the tunnel together with this one, the Levada dos 25 Fontes. We are close to the source (which hopefully will be reached in tomorrows picture) and there is so much water it is bursting the banks of the levada in places.
