Leaping back through time and space to springtime in Andalusia, we decide to climb Maroma from the north side by the muy facile (easy) route. This is still a climb of over 1,000 metres though. Here we are at Salto del Caballo (Horses leap) the steep bit taking us to a col and on to the summit ridge. As you can see there is still snow here as this part of the mountain gets very little sun and none at all in the winter months. The distant white on the horizon is the Sierra Nevada and the Spanish mainlands highest mountains.
