The ridge is punctuated by these quartzite outcrops, this being the highest one. The ground is covered in shattered pieces of the same stone, presumably split asunder during the last Ice Age.
Looks like a scarf curving ! Love the movement in the earth and the kind of cross in distance*

@k@: The resolution here is not good enough sadly, but the kind of cross is a guy sitting on top of the trig point with his arms outstretched. I could have zoomed in on him but preferred the bigger picture.
Wonderful the clouds are glorious. Beautiful landscape.

Good shot Sir! I too have pondered on the regular shape of these blocks - presumably caused by frosting of the outcrops exposed by the retreating ice.
