Ben Macdui

Posted by
grouser (Ludlow, United Kingdom) on 9 September 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Two views from the summit of Ben Macdui, the highest peak in the Cairngorm high altitude plateau. I was somewhat disorientated up there (this held true for the entire trip. I am so used to visiting coasts that face south or west that I found it hard to grasp that the beach at Covesea was facing north) but my best guess is that the top view is looking south and the one below looking west. As you can see the weather was quite changeable.

Love those billowing skies in your blue-silverished palette !

You are well travelled Grouser! Fantastic views thanks for sharing them.

9 Sep 2009 11:42am

@Curly: I try and get out and about. So much to see So little time to see it. But we are fortunate to live in a relatively small country that has a great variety of beautiful landscape packed in to it. So two hours drive will take you somewhere completely different rather than two days in many other places I can think of,

Good shots.Nice sky in both of them.

Fine landscapes. I like the sharp contrast in weather between the two shots. It's easy to get turned around under cloudy conditions. That's why I need a new iPhone with a built-in compass! :-) The two shots work out well together.

You really captured the feeling of space by having the people in the shot. Sure gives perspective. Nice.

very beautiful photos mate! love the presentation -- however, if i may suggest, the bottom image -- is there more ground to that original shot? did you crop? it feels a wee bit top heavy to me. those clouds are so dynamic with the light, but there is nothing to weigh them down... :) otherwise, simply splendid!

10 Sep 2009 3:11pm

@dj.tigersprout: Fair point DJ. I did indeed crop both, both top and bottom if yoy see what I mean and I may well have been a trifle hard on the lower foreground lured by those heavy rolling clouds.
