The Torre del Oro

Posted by

A short stroll along the river bank and back towards the old town we come across the Torre del Oro. This Moorish defensive tower is believed to be one of a pair, the other being sited on the other bank, so that a chain could be drawn up between the two to bar entry up the river in times of war. The river here has since silted up and large boats no longer travel up this high.
