White Desert

Posted by
grouser (Ludlow, United Kingdom) on 9 January 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

On the way up to Mortimer's Forest in Ludlow following an ancient track to a place called Starve Crow, I trudge through a white desert.
This is posted in advance as we were obliged to take to the roads yesterday and goodness knows what will happen. Note the interesting mix of tenses here due to the fact that I'm writing of the future in the present/past :)

I'm viewing this yesterday on today then. A beautiful British farmscape much more refined than we have in the States. It always entertains me that ever bump has a name or two, must be meager to starve a crow. Of course you might think Monkey's Eyebrow or Gravel Switch somewhat strange. best...jerry

Good contrast tenses/wheater: in Spanish, as you know, we call both "tiempo" :))
Very nice image seen at home, I suppose that you have a difficult time with all this cold over your country :)

@Paco Díaz: You might say so Paco, but we left Andalusia just in time too. it's been raining there pretty much ever since. Much needed but I'm pleased to miss it ;)

Stunning photo! A beautiful "carpet" of beautiful white shades! Trees gently break the flatness of the composition.

I like how the fence row divides the image. The snow's texture is remarkable. A fine looking landscape.

Good evening, Grouser,
yes, the White Desert is the correct title. It is displayed in color once again brilliant. The Sun delivered to your part. Everything is perfect. For that I give you 5 stars *****
I wish you a beautiful Saturday evening. Here, it snowed again today until the afternoon. Drive carefully.....
Dear greetings Christel

White desert it is..... but at first I thought you where on the piste of a ski resort. It's a great winter setting.

Please don't write in the 4th dimension.. it confuses me :0

An ace composition in what I imagine is a difficult landscape . . past or present.

beautifully shot, grouser.
i wonder if snow has a blue hue because it reflects the color of the sky?
i think that's why liquid water is blue.
it makes sense. kinda.
