Rio Solano

Posted by
grouser (Ludlow, United Kingdom) on 14 May 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Beyond the wild-flowers is the gravel bed of the Rio Solano. We do a river walk here, which usually involves a bit of hopping and skipping over a small stream that often disappears altogether. Not this time. Andalusia has had unusual amounts of rain, falling most days from the end of December until a few weeks ago. On the plus side reservoirs depleted by years of semi drought are now full and the water table is back to normal. However many crops have been ruined and there have been landslides and roads washed away. It gave an extra frisson to the river walk too as it became a wading game.

Sometimes we have to take off our boots n wade across barefooted or put on sandals on hikes here. But its also a chance to wash our faces n cool down.

Wonderful photo, with the graceful curves, texture of the sand, and then the joyful green and flowers, the tree gives a stable accent - 5 *****

Such a cool shot, nice transitions from the soft flowers to the river bed, seems everywhere the weather patterns are messed up, what are we doing to our planet and will we ever learn

The sharp contrast between the green flowered area and the starkness of the river area makes the shot very eye-catching. Nice one.
