Across the street from yesterday's shot this building has been gutted, leaving only the façade.
Interestingly, the process currently used to maintain the facade and rebuilding the interior of the old buildings! It is appreciated ... The planning regulations do not comply with the rules of common sense! Best regards. Adela

Unimaginable...real distress to think that maybe one day all that is authentic, will be torned down...very impactful phtoo Grouser

Such a contrast, and not sure I always see the logic in gutting a building and rebuilding around the facade, I have seen it done so well where everything blends so well, and done where the facade ends up looking ridiculous against modern style building

@JJ: Especially if the internal floors don't match the window openings :)
It's sad to see it reduced to a bare shell. Perhaps you'll get to see the rebuilding if that is the eventual outcome.

Besides the content of your story, which is a shame, when these beautiful buildings are not respect (although at least a facade remains instead of a tear down), I really like the composition with your close crop on the building all wrapped up in a mesh. Almost like an art installation. Great with the green of the scaffolding to the left as well.

Strange, it is like colour on mono

Progress I guess, great use of the wire mesh in your composition.

Excellent!! you're stealing one of my favorite themes :) I like the constrast between the circular forms in the right and the straight lines on the left.

Its good way of modernising a building without losing the architecture. Looks like the building has some nice curves and balconies.

I love old buildings and it always saddens me to see an old building in this state. At the end of the day it comes down to MONEY. Very well captured.

thats unfortunate, but it looks like they r restoring it

What would Gaudi say about it?
Hopefully the spirit of the building will remain.
If not: why conserving it?
