Sky Light

Posted by
grouser (Ludlow, United Kingdom) on 3 November 2010 in People & Portrait.

That evening we stop overnight in a hotel at Pakbeng. The lampshades Ms R had been carrying turn out to be sky lanterns and she also produces a bottle of rather nice wine. It's a marvellous birthday experience that brings a tear to my cynical old eye as I watch the lanterns shoot skywards. They stay in sight for an amazingly long time, eventually becoming indistinguishable from the flickering starlight above.
What a way to become an OAP
This picture was taken by Carol, one of our Australian travel companions for the cruise. It shows me, Ms S, Ms R and Mrs G watching in awe as gravity is defied.
