We took a trip out of Chiang Mai and visited a hill village. I found it a mildly depressing experience as it was a tribe that had seemingly been re-located from the Golden Triangle in order to stop them growing opium poppies for a living. (Better there than Afghanistan I would have thought) The village consisted of a dusty Hill Tribe Opium Museum and rows of shacks which almost all contained shops selling tourist tat. The only redeeming feature of the place was a rather beautiful garden full of flowers and butterflies at the top of the hill. Needless to say the butterflies wouldn't cooperate and I ended up with a collection of
shots of blurry wings
So onwards to the lovely Wat of Doi Suthep. Here worshippers are making offerings of lotus buds, candles and incense to the Buddha images.
