Mother and Child

I have a soft spot for buffalo ever since an experience in the seventies. I was walking along the Ghats in Benares and at this particular point they were steps for giants, about five feet wide and the same deep, descending to the Ganges. Coming the other way was a very large and impressive Water buffalo with a great spread of horns. To get past him I had to walk right on the edge of the step and as I did so he very gently swung his head towards me knocking me off. I landed safely one tier down as the drover shouted and beat him soundly. They have very thick skin though and I'm sure he was playing it for laughs :) The buff here are much smaller but what a beautful pair.
