I'm bouncing around through space and time a bit. We are back in December again.
I have never seen this before. The protracted cold of the winter froze the river including most of the weir.
Sure does look extreme and quite alien to our landscape as we (used to) know it.

A great idea to present this scene in B / N. Gives strength to the light and contrast ... Transmits cold ice water and the tree wrapped in ice! With how hot it is where I live! Best regards, grouser! Adela

@Adela Fonts: To be honest there wasn't much colour to remove in the picture anyway Adela :)
It was an extraordinary three weeks, you don't expect to see water that normally gushes and flows freezing solid.

Very crisp shot! Amazing scene - not only the weir but the frosty white roofs in the background as well.

This year has been so odd,Coldest December, Warmest March, Driest April. I wonder what the rest of the year will bring...

A nice winter shot to remind us of colder times. It made my spring a bit more bearable! :-)

Bouncing around the calendar and seasons is always a worthy freedom for photographs, and this is a very interesting one (a good one!) that reminds me of similar sights in the colder regions of Canada. I like these houses in the background, reminding us of the incredible value of shelter from the elements.
