Amanita

Posted by
grouser (Ludlow, United Kingdom) on 12 December 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

What could be neater
The Amanita Muscaria mushroom , 'Big Ears's toadstool home, the seat of Alice's caterpillar and of course the delicacy of choice of Viking berserkers. Once they had vomited it up it gave them the feeling of invulnerability. Nothing could touch them, except perhaps the liver damage it caused if they lived long enough to notice.
The mushrooms are a couple of months late this year. Suddenly the woods are full of them
