This rather upmarket barn is unusually church-like in its architecture

Surely it was a church............once.........just for a year or two?

@Curly: Possible I guess. I couldn't get inside but it looked as though it was an earth floor.
Well, I was convinced it was a church . . I find it difficult to shake off that feeling. What we can say is that it was stood here long before ol'Don's land was 'discovered' and it'll be here after his barns are long gone !

@Ronnie 2¢: It's the buttresses that do it. If you removed them the churchy feeling would go too. It's built on flat, wet land, so maybe it needed them to keep the walls true. There are no proper windows, only slits to vent the air, but I have to agree that it seems wonderfully overbuilt for a barn.
will our buildings last so long?
Have a great 2012 G!

Excellent barn. You're right most appropriate architecture for church ... beautiful image! Best regards, Adela

Thanks for thinking of me! That is a very special barn. i think it reflects a farner with church on his mind. I agee with Ronnie 2cents that it will survive these barns oover here.

Wonderfully unusual structure - Just looking at it shoots me back to some unknown time, that feeling where you want to know who was in there, every brick looking as though it hold some secret meaning.
Excellent. Happy New Year to you Grouser!
