El Cedro 1

So we arrive on the small volcanic island of La Gomera and take the bus from the ferry port to the Hermigua valley on the north and wet side of the island. We are there early enough to give us time for an afternoon walk and so we decide to head up out of the valley to El Cedro on the edge of the rain forest. It turns out to be one of the steepest and most unremittingly uphill paths I have taken for many years, though fortunately not that long. Here, near the start of the walk, we look back towards the valley and one of the dramatic rocky spires that dot the island landscape.

I difficult lighting challenge with the dark foreground and light sky. I think I might have fiddled with it to lighten up the foreground. What d'ya think?

@CElliottUK: I did try and in fact the foreground is lighter than the original as I exposed for the sky. However it somehow detracted from the spire as the houses started to dominate the foreground. You are quite right though it is a flawed image. There are some much better pinnacle shots to come somewhat further down the line.

A beautiful, but very rugged place for a trail. Nice shot of these spectacular mountains.

I like how the houses sit opposite the spire. Nice shot, Grouser!

I didn't walk up the mountains, just took the bus which was nightmarish on the tight bends. Looks as though you were pretty high up taking this shot.
