Some of the typical vegetation of the dry side of the island. Here you see Prickly Pear and Euphorbia. The Euphorbias in particular cover the hillside interspersed with the palm trees. They make a delicious syrup from the collected sap from the palms by boiling it down until it is the consistency of molasses. It is served poured over sliced bananas.
