Some glassy shapes to beguile the eye
As we watch the shoppers passing by
Ewe know it makes me think
that here we have the herd instinct
Things have come to a sorry state
Sheepishly I ruminate
I had not realized it was as bad as this . . "Welcome - terms and conditions apply"

Yet this is how they would like all of our town centres to look like!

Great image and superb words Grouser, I'm inclined to agree with Curly these mammoth things are taking over our cities

@Doug: Open prisons for consumers
One in every town
Keeps the population trodden down :)
Your words are smart. I endorse ... Add that I wonder that everywhere "bloom" these glass buildings ... anonymous referees for their virgin appearance and translucent ... In Barcelona there too. Perhaps the most prominent is the Hotel Vela ... by the sea ... Estetico if ... Like others too ... Luxury and banality ... A hug, Adela

Les humains dans leur bulle de verre emblématique d'une certaine modernité! Une aubaine pour la photographie !
Bonne fin de semaine lumineuse!

Yes, here you have the feeling you are really into a bubble of glass...
Fascinating picture again !

The glass and all encompassing design aspect is a paradox of aesthetic pleasing and wallet teasing. Seriously, I enjoyed the series and am all the more determined to avoid food courts and must-acquire-latest-gadget pack mentality!

@Rick: Not quite over yet Rick, we don't escape Mammon that easily :)
A splendid nice shot !
Good composition and framing !!

Ha! Seems I was headed for the exit before *you* were... :-), I'll be back, then. (damn)

Most of us have been conditioned to be aggressive consumers...of everything around us. It is something to resist. A great shot, by the way. Nice angle and the glass city makes a fine picture.

@Slackwater - Don: agree wholeheartedly Don. Unfortunately not so with the general public. To my horror shopping is apparently the number one leisure activity here. People addicted to stuff, or at least the process of buying it.
Walls of glass and illusion
as they walk in dazed confusion
no distraction from the quest
to find which bargain is the best
