These plants grow for seven years then flower and die. From the number of them that scatter the hillside it seems to be a successful strategy. We have two in a small pot on our balcony and it will be interesting to see how they develop.
To add to my saga of technological mishaps my new card reader (Cheap may be the problem) malfunctioned and erased the formatting on my SDHC card and I have lost the bulk of my pictures from my recent trip to Falmouth, Cheddar gorge and Bristol taken on the new P7000. This is probably good news for vertigo sufferers as there were some very exposed cliff and gorge shots. I guess on the plus side it makes playing catch up easier....sigh
