A Postcard from Segovia

Posted by

So leaving the rain of Bilbao, we wind up into the snow covered mountains and wend our way to a freezing Segovia and its stunning Roman Aquaduct. Over 800 metres long with 166 arches, it towers 30 metres above the square. Made of huge blocks of granite, precisely fitted together without any mortar, it's a stupendous engineering feat. The blocks were raised using human treadmill powered cranes.
