In the hills above Canmore and below Hai Ling
Why oh why did they have to string
a wire up high
Beautiful waterfall and superb Black and White. The composition is wonderful, excellent picture.
Have a good weekend.

With the right shoes, you could have walked that wire . .

Normally I don't like to see sky and waterfalls in the same frame, the sky tends to take the attention away from the water, it also sometimes waters down the contrast. However in this case it must have been too difficult a decision to make, miss the sky out and you have no mountain to provide the scale. Have too much mountain and sky and the waterfall loses its grandeur.
So I guesss we all have to make compromises.
Nice black and white edit which enforces the emotional power of the place.

@Curly: Matched my thought process nicely.:) One of the reasons for the B/W choice was to moderate the impact of the glare of light from the sky.
Wonderful monochrome image in excellent composition. A great fall looks dynamic in the forest. I often see sights that obstacles spoil beautiful landscapes. In such cases, I heave a sigh. Have a great weekend.

I'm really loving your black and whites of these scenes - the tones are wonderful. I would however have to get the clone stamp out and get rid of that wire though. ;-)

Beautiful, my friend:)

A wonderful image ... Cable hurts ...! Man destroys the beauty that surrounds us ...

even though the wire is a nuisance, the view and its presentation are wonderful!
(in order to get rid of wires, poles, even people, try "wireworm". its a free programme and its PS compatible!)

@franz: Thanks for that Franz. For my reasons for not cloning it out see my comment to Judy below. Could just be an excuse for laziness of course :)
Wonderful landscape. The waterfall is so dynamic. Beautiful B&W. I like it.

They put the wire there to test your cloning skills, Mr. G. ;D
Wonderful shot of this fantastic waterfall!

@Judy aka L@dybug: I have a certain ambivalence about cloning things out that are actually there in what is essentially a documentary landscape shot. Where our small house is in Spain, the village has two large antenna on its summit, so it is virtually impossible to take a general view and not include them. Yet in almost every shot you see of the village, especially promotional ones, they are miraculously not there :) I can't say its wrong as I use processing techniques and edit by composition to 'improve' my pictures but somehow it seems a step too far.
A beautiful waterfall shot in a fine black and white mode. Well done.

A fantastic scene and ideal for mono !

B&W really shows off the shapes. That waterfall is lovely - I hardly noticed the wire.

Impressive falls. I would probably photoshop out the wire. ;-)

Yes, I hear you on the cloning issue. I have many sunrise shots taken from our front yard and I have cloned out the streetlight that stands near the center of some images, but in some I've left it in. ;D
