@Marjolein: Tidal erosion

Devi from Chennai, India

they have come out of the soil!! Looks like they were " rooting " for you !!
Hope you ran away after taking the shot !!!

dobbino from Cape Town, South Africa

Amazing stuff! And I would imagine the tree is probably still quite stable.

18 Feb 2019 1:01pm

@dobbino: It is tidal erosion and I'm sure it has roots buried in the rocks behind it, though compromising the rock strength will probably lead to its eventual downfall

Rick from Toronto, Canada

A truly gripping image !

@Rick: :) I twigged what you did there

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

NOw I have that song by Little Richard (Tutti Fruiti, aw rutti) stuck in my head! I love the shapes of the tangled roots hanging on for dear life.

@Ruthiebear: well as ear worms go it's not a bad one :)

Mhelene from Villiers-sur-Marne, France

This is just magnificent in Black and White. Excellent detail. 5*

18 Feb 2019 5:18pm

@Shaun: It was one of those grey days we do so well here, so it was pretty monochrome to start with

Elaine Hancock from Olney, United States

A fabulous black and white image with great detail and textures. Those roots seem to just keep hanging on even though the soil is eroding away. A fabulous image!
